A warm welcome back to everyone, and a big hello to our hundreds of new subscribers since the last issue.

Happy Valentine's Day...Let the romance bubble over...

It's still cold up here in Ottawa.

Suddenly the novelty of living in the city with the longest natural skating rink in North America just isn't cutting it! (7+miles for those of you trivia buffs!)

Here's the positive spin - it does make it easier to concentrate on business - you know - not be distracted by relaxing walks on the beach outside or anything at -30 degrees.

My wife and I can embrace the coldest of weather, but there's some bizarre chemical reaction that happens in young kids when they don't get the proper outside time.

Any of you who have kids likely know what I'm talking about - they need their exercise.

On the upside, it's only a few weeks until we should be into some warmer weather and all will be right again.

Hi Jeff,

I've already got a retail web site ( ) but I've been kicking around the idea for an ebook and would like to know what you and your readers think.

In my "Day Job" I manage a retail bedding store. I'll keep the brand to myself as I don't want this to appear as a shameless ad. I've got nearly 10 years experience in the mattress business and know how confusing it can be for consumers when they're mattress shopping. I've been thinking about writing a book to help people make the right choices the right way!

The only thing that concerns me is that there are already a ton of free resources (many of them not too good) out there. So, what say you? Is this worth a go? Thanks for your time and response.

Bill you are definitely on the right track with focusing on what you know and what you enjoy doing - you know beds and obviously you have an interest in helping people find the best product going.

That's half the battle, the other half is matching up your knowledge with market demand. Common demand motivators include saving money, saving time, reducing pain, gaining pleasure, or having fun. I think a few of these apply.

You could begin to test the concept of "How To Save $X on your mattress investment - Insider Secrets" or you could focus on an aspect of back health with respect to mattresses - there's likely a ton of medical information on this out there that you could compile, using your own words, into a high demand package.

I believe you have a solid potential product idea, an addressable market and good niche market - you just need to refine the exact emotion you want to hit with your topic.

Shocking Online Success Secrets That Will Make You Rich

It's funny, we're all searching for the gold at the end of the rainbow, if we could just looked for the rainbow, then wouldn't that lead us to the pot of gold?

You know that old expression "you can't see the forest for the trees?"

Know what?

The biggest secret to making money online is that...

There is No Secret!

I know, I know - you're probably saying, you could have written that. But really, this is not rocket science and it all makes good least sort of.

Take a look at some of the things that have worked for me lately - see if I'm not totally going off my rocker when I say that ANYONE can do this.

1. Get hold of, or better yet, create a good quality, in-demand product for a market you know and can access online. Your product could be information, a service, consumer products, entertainment products, or pretty much anything you can think of - the key is quality, in-demand and accessible market.

If you need help generating or refining your own hot selling idea - then start here...

2. Write solid sales copy. Oh no, you scream! This is where I lose you? Don't be scared, you can do it. You need to become an expert at converting your product features into benefits, turn your sales page into a compelling story, create an offer your visitor's can't refuse and make sure you create urgency...oh and one more important thing - don't bore your visitors!

Two ways you can learn this, you can go to an automatic sales letter writing tool like Marlon Sanders offers or, spend a little less money and actually learn how to write your own copy - start with Make Your Words Sell from Joe Robson and Ken Evoy...

3. Develop a solid automated selling machine! The key word is "automated". You want to finish a project, and then be able to take a trip, enjoy life, or if you're like me, jump into the next project with all three feet!

The backbone of your automated selling machine is your own autoresponder - let's you send out your own eCourse, newsletter, automated sales letter sequence, surveys, feedback forms, solo blasts and more. All scheduled before hand.

If you're not using an autoresponder, then simplify your life and increase your sales - I've been using this one for a while now, super service at a great price...

4. Back end, Back end, Back end.

This one's a biggie. Most online business models fail selling just one product. You need to sell multiple products to your customers to really make big money.

The big guys online work hard to make sure their customers not only buy again and again, but they buy more expensive things again and again.

To be successful on the back end you need two things...

- in-depth understanding of your list, where they're at and what they want. - have created a relationship with your list, they need to believe in you to buy from you again and again.

5. Focus, Persistence, and a Healthy desire to Succeed

You need to be possessed for the first months of the learning curve. Go at your internet business with everything you've got. I don't mean you have to do it full time, just use the heck out of whatever time you do have.

So you miss the next episode of Survivor Amazon! You may be a little cranky from a few hours less sleep at night. Reward comes to those who dedicate themselves to action. A few weeks work will lead to results, a few more weeks, bigger results, then a few more weeks, and even bigger results. Sounds complicated right!

There are other nuances, little things you will learn, techniques you can apply to increase your results online. But let's be REAL clear...

You can become successful just by applying simple, common sense principles - don't let fear or uncertainty stop you.

Get started now - within weeks you'll be an "insider" and know that the "real" secret to success is simple.

Jeff [Question]

Yanik you mentioned that at 3:00AM the idea for Instant Sales Letters came to you, what was it in your mind that told you there was a market for this product. What sorts of experiences led up to that.

Yanik [Answer]

Well, the fact that sales letter and business letter writing books are perenial best sellers at the book stores, they are not a super hot item, I mean you are never going to find a book of sales letter templates on the best sellers list, but every bookstore has a copy of two or three of them.

Jeff [Question]

Right, very steady, high sales products?

Yanik [Answer]

Very steady selling products, so I could see myself selling these 10 years into the future. And another thing that I think is really important to mention - I think I am getting known for saying this is - there's an old saying that "you can give a man a fish and you can feed him for a day, you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.

Well, I don't think that's true. Most people don't want to learn how to fish. They want the fish handed to them, on their plate, grilled and looking terrific with all the garnishes on the side.

So that's what Instant Sales Letters is supposed to do. It's supposed to free people up from the hassle of writing their own sales letters.

That really came about - when we were selling products to cosmetic surgeons, we used to have these predone patient attraction toolkits and we had them for different procedures like liposuction and we gave them everything they needed to get new patients in the door - predone ads, predone letters, predone educational reports and things like that.

We even came out with a predone newsletter that they could send out to their customers.

The more you can think all the way through to whatever end result that the person wants - the better you will do.

Interesting. I guess one way to summarize it is that there's hundreds of thousands of books out there telling you "what" to do, there's fewer that tell you "how" to do it, and even fewer that actually do it for you.

Yanik [Answer]

Absolutely - that's a great summary. That's why one of my latest products I talk about "Tools" It's called Instant Marketing ToolBox... and what this is is really a marketing department in a box. Every month they get a new marketing tool. Month 1 may be how they upsell, and then I'll give them the actual script we've used to upsell. And we give them a predone newsletter and postcards they can send out to their clients...

** Two Big Trends In Product Development

MEMBERSHIP SITES. While there are a limited number of opportunities for membership sites within a given marketing niche - this is the time to consider such a strategy withiin your niche. Nice aspects are recurring revenues, nice umbrella for multiple product formats, attractive to affiliates, and good method of building expert status.

Pulled off successfully, membership sites can be very profitable and fulfilling. Here are a few personal favorites:

CONFERENCES. They are everywhere - teleconferences, workshops and seminars. One reason why? You can make big money $300-$3,000 or more per participant. You can record the event and come out with a high price product automatically. You can use it to network with serious players in your area of interest. You can have a bigger impact on your customers. You can sell a whole host of back-end products linked to the conference. You bump up your "expert" status significantly.

Consider starting with teleconferences, organizing your own conference - putting together one or more experts.

Try taking some time and figuring out how you can take your knowledge and apply it to one of these two product options.
